Spreader bar

If the alignment is off it won't help it out. It will stiffen up the front end of the car. I have one on my car and it helped stiffen up the front. It ties the two shock towers together so if there is any flex in the frame this all but elimintes it.

I made this one from parts at speedway for about 35 bucks
You can get all of the parts from speedwaymotors.com
Here are all of the part numbers needed
1170810L LH male hemi joint 9.99
1170810 RH male hemi joint 9.99
3159603 RH jam nut 1.99
3159604 LH jam nut 1.99
91034158-19 19” tie rod sleeve 10.99
The 19 at the end of the sleeve part number indicates the length, so if you need a 17” bar you would use 91034158-17
I made the mounting bracket out of two 8” long pieces of ¼” thick angle

Great looking bar. I will be making one to fit my car. I have to find something to use my new plasma cutter and tig welder on!
It looks like time to change thsoe belts, before they leave you stranded. (don't you just love when someone posts a comment that has nothing to do with the thread?).

Thanks. That pic was 2 years ago and the belts have been changed.
I think the trick to making a spreader bar work with the stock pulleys is to lower the mounting point of the bar. My setup has the mounting point 1" below the centerline of the A-arm attaching bolts. That is why my mounting plates are 3/8X2" S/S flat stock.

I've already started and have located the web site. Question, this job can be done, without having to have the front end lined up again dose it. Do you think it would be OK to use 1/4" or 3/8" alum. instead of steel. How much movement will there be at the ends.
