Default This is the end for me!

Started this restoration of my 76 vette 2 years ago, never really advanced very fast for lack of time and money.
Today i decided to put an end to it.
Even though i haven,t posted many threads or responses i have followed many of your restorations and have spent many hours admiring
the work some of you are doing and have done.
I will remain a member, simply to keep looking at some of the cars,
and of coarse Durango's car washes!!!
Special thanks to DWncchs, Roger, who put in a good amount of time in for me.

Thanks,
Tony.

What do you mean by " I put an end to it"? Did you take it out behind the garage and SHOOT it? Or maybe you took it to another neighborhood and left it, hoping someone would feel sorry for it and give it a good home.

Alan

There are starving for Corvettes kids (me) in Tennessee. Want not waste not.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

not far, it's all apart and spread out in the garage and the basement.
Car should have gone to the grave yard to begin with, it's in very bad shape, frame is a total loss, i started to rebuild it and it would have turned out okey. No motor, no transmission, floor is rotten, must i go on? In the end i know my skills, i could have put this car back on the road on day. Just tiered of having to justify it to my better half.

Consider it a learning experience, maybe in the future, as situations change you can try it again with the knowledge gained from this one. Good luck, and hope you keep visiting us and do it again some day.

Maybe the "better" half needs to understand that you have a right to have a hobby...even if she doesn't like it. I'm thinking that the car is not the problem...you just aren't getting any support from the "better" half. Perhaps she would prefer the money be spent on stuff she wants????

To be perfectly honest it sounds like the parts sold individually would net enough of an investment to buy a running roller that you can enjoy and restore slowly. That would get the miss off of your back, and you'd have that great smile we all get when we take our cars out for a drive.

Good to hear you'll be hanging around.

Tony,

Very sorry to hear that your project is not going well. Since the car is apart, make a list of what you have, put it on the "Parts for Sale" Section of the Forum.

Perhaps your fortunes will change and you can acquire another one in a few short years. Maybe next time you will be able to acquire a car that won't be such a daunting challenge. I don't know how some of these guys on here have the patience to complete these restorations.

Oh, I just realized, yes I do know: they are much younger and more talented than I am!! Best of luck to you and your family.

Not that you are implying that the wife is getting on you about the car but, I am very blessed to have my wife. When I am down and discouraged about how the garage now looks like a car exploded as well as the spare bedroom and the frog, she just says, don't worry nobody comes to visit us anyhow.

Guys,
My wife isn't bad, i pretty well can do what i want and she never says anything. This time it's because i started something at the wrong time,
but i really wanted to do this, i'm just tired of hearing it was the wrong timing.
I could keep the car and start over later on. but it's all over the place.
Maybe i'll cool down in a few days, for now i just don't wanna know anything about the car.
Again, i have a great wife, been together for 22 years. Been married now for 18 years.

I have a suggestion, because I hate it when people sell their Vettes before they get to enjoy them.

build some new shelves in the garage and buy some of the big plastic storage tubs at Wal-Mart. Bag and label everything, store what fits in the tubs, and wrap the large stuff, and put everything from the car on the shelves. Get it neat and organized and all in one place. Heck, sometimes just organizing everything can motivate you to take a step that maybe you have been avoiding or putting off.

At least with it all put away and labeled you can have the piece of mind that it isn't taking you over, and that you still have control of how it all turns out.

I'm the wrong guy to label things, i have the G.M. assembly manual, was counting on that to help with the puzzle.
I was going to buy the frame off of Roger, long story, that fell through, on my part.
That's when i decided to hang up the gloves. By the way Durango, when i posted mt first thread you were the first to answer.

I like this suggestion from DB. Just put the $$$ from the sale aside. Once you get most of it sold then you can decide whether to pay off a few bills or get a 'running roller'. Either way, you will end up with less expenses or a running car a lot faster. I know either one of those options would go a long way to improving my outlook!

Best of luck!
