Now I know why most C3's don't have them.

I probably spent 5 hours ...... and twisted my body in various positions installing them.
Also, found the screws still in place after bubba installed the carpet right over them.
Nothing like adding more chrome to the interior.
Got it, thanks. I always wondered what they call those and now I know. I have them in my 1977 and they work well.
Thanks for sharing.

I don't have any pics yet, but you need 3 of them.
One basically between the seats, and the others go on each of the wheel wells.
If you can pull up the carpet, you will see the screw holes.
I looked it up in the dictionary.
The footman was responsible for strapping down the luggage on the coach or carriage. I guess he fed the straps through loops fastened to the coach or carriage.

A little 'tip' for folks installing new carpet. Get a big sewing machine needle and use it to "hunt" for the mounting holes for the attaching screws on those things. Makes life a LOT easier. (Find the hole...screw it down.)
Originally there was a spacer about 1/4" long that went on the screws after they went through the 'loop'. It was there to keep the loop from disappearing into the carpet and under-pad as you tightened the screws.

Good idea!
Here is another method:
When I installed new carpet recently, I installed the screws into their respective holes and then laid the carpet over the screws. It was then quite easy to feel around for the screws and cut a small "X" shape over the screw head with a razor knife and push the carpet down over the screw head.
