Default Spark plug shield info
I need to know how to refinish the spark plug heat shields on my '71 SB engine. Were they plain steel? Plated? Chrome flashed? [surely not painted...] Please advise, as I'd like to keep them original. Thx.

I used VHT heat paint...cast was the color I used...worked great

I used the silver VHT. It worked great- no problems after 10K miles.

7T1,
I believe the heat shields were cadmium plated when the cars left St. Louis.
