Do you remember this car?
It was featured in a magazine in the early 70’s 70-73 maybe and during that time was a show winner.
I just bought the car and am hoping to gather some info on it.
Plate reads MY J490
Pretty unique car and kinda has my hopes up for the obvious reasons.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The car is "pull my butt over red" now and has been since about 74', standard cowl hood.
The wheels are true anson like the phase 3, you can make out the shelby scoop above the wheel (upper right photo). That was a motion thing as well. It looks like the gas cap is raised as well (lower photo) but it is a standard door now. And it is very hard to see much in the photos.
$7,500...I think I stole the car even if it turns out to be a plain jane no-pedigree 68'. It currently has a 327/4-spd/4.56 runs good. Body interior is decent. The guy claims 56,000 on the odometer is actual....please lord

Trim tag shows 414/978, international Blue w/Blue int., the only RPO code, K06, as a fan for the engine. I cant find the code for 1968 but its listed as a 69 option.
I get excited because to me the two shop photos look like build photos...no side pipes yet, getting suspenion work...maybe...another vette in the photo....anybody recognize that valvoline box

This is interesting, the guy assures me the car was an original 427 car. The tach is for a L-79 327 350hp...I'd like to think the car was bought and sent straight to motion for the 427 treatment. I plan on droping the tank in hopes of finding a build sheet.
What #'s do I need to look for or other clues to it being a motion car?

Baldwin motion really got started around 67' I think, but most "motion" vettes are 69' or newer. Rosen was racing the KO-Motion, 63?, vette earlier and was setting records well before "baldwin Motion".
I've seen one verified motion camaro with the "negative" paint up the 1/4 and up the middle of the trunk.
It is identicle to the rear of this car. I think the camaro was a 70' model.
I've seen a similar color scheme for the early Apollo Astronauts.
They were offered corvettes through Chevrolet and NASA.
The offer to buy was so ridiculously low, they couldn't afford not to buy them.
They were 427 cars, custom painted in a color very similar to the one above,
in Riversides Gold with a flat black detail. Unique for sure. I have these
photos but without permission I cannot legally post. Sorry.
I'm sure if you google Astronaut Corvette, you will see
the cars I'm describing.
(that would be cool!)
I've heard Joel Rosen, Motion perfomance, starts @ $1,500.
Thats could be $1,500 to find out its not.
At this point I can spend that money in a better way...given the # of clones out there.
Sooner or latter I will drop the gas tank and look for a build sheet/invoice. Best case scenerio is I find a Baldwin invoice on it. In that case I ante up to Rosen.
Paint is last on my list for this very reason.
