Default fit question

So….

I have this air gap Edelbrock intake with this 750 cfm carb, topped off with this matching billet air cleaner.

Does anyone know if this will fit under an L88 hood?

Or have suggestions on how to tell?

I’m looking to buy one but I would like to be sure it would fit before I drop the cash.

Thanks
KO

had the air gap and same looking air cleaner on my 540 in my 69 and I am using a L88 hood (long style)and it would not fit

The front end of the air cleaner hits the hood

I went with the L88 and the air chamber (in the hood) with a factory drop base air cleaner to make it all work out

Maybe a taller version of the L88 hood would work?

That's what I was afraid of.

I think I saw someone get an L88 skin that had a taller scoop and graph it to the stock hood.

or I may cut a hole in my stock hood and put a stinger scoop on it.

either way, to keep this setup, it looks like i'm going to have to do something custom.

I really like the 'stinger' scoop idea on a stock C3 hood. Again, just make sure the scoop you buy will have the clearance you need.

You can do it either way. There is a raised L-88 hood available that will give you the clearance you need, or as I did, you can graft a scoop on top of an regular L-88 hood. The reason I did mine this way was because I did not want anymore height at the windshield where vision is already somewhat obstructed. The back of my modded hood is only 1/4" taller than a normal L-88. The scoop was added level from there to front of the blister (hump) on the hood. Also, it allowed me to set it up for ram air after I constructed the airchamber to suit my intake.

Have enjoyed watching your project,
Dave
