Default Convertible Windshield trim

I have a 1971 convertible. The top windshield molding has no screw holes and the end corner pieces are 2 pieces . I bought a new top piece and it has 4 screw holes and the top windshield molding looks like it doesn't match up. bought new end pieces are they are 1 piece. I'm starting to think I have early 68 windshield trim on the car. Will I have to Replace the Rest of the windshield trim?

I think you do have the trim from an early 68.

You could probably sell what you've got to an early 68 owner and use the proceeds to purchase the correct trim for your 71 and take your lady out to dinner.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was shocked when i got the NOS top piece and it had mounting holes. But then when i got the end pieces and they were 1 piece. so i thought 68 right away. That means i need to find the rest of the new windshield moldings to match. Don't know why some one would change them The bird cage frame is in good shape so. other than the car had a hard top on it's whole life and maybe the molding was bad.

Are you saying the outer pillar post trim doesn't match up with your new pieces? If so, I didn't realize that those might also be either early 68 or just plain 68 only items.

Don't throw anything away!!

yes the new end pieces don't match the windshield molding. so for now i'll put the old stuff back on until i can staighten this mess out. I can see the holes are there for the new center trim. i feel better about that because it was hard to find and not cheap. I supposed 1 owner cars can be bubba'd. Didn't expect that since the rest of the car is original.
