Every once in a while my car sounds like a canary, then it sounds like a bad lifter. Any ideas? Thanks bob

I'll follow along with DDBS.... does it sound like a STOCK canary or a HIGH PERFORMANCE canary?. Sorry, that's what came to mind.
A little more information will help get you some actual answers.
Regards,
Alan

WHen I installed my engine I drove for a few moles and it started to sound like a police siren was mounted under the hood. WHen I checked it was the carbeurator flange. the bolts had come loose and the gasket was vibtrating like a blade of grass between your fingers. Crazy

Sounds like a canary and then a bad lifter? Is the bad lifter sound a clacking coming from the bottom area near the oil pan?

Call NPR and talk to the tappett brothers click and clack. They could do a half hour on the canary. Just tying to lighten things up a little.

No. I was thinking spun bearing. Whining and then a clacking sound equal to the rotation of the crankshaft.
But whining can come from belts, power steering pump, etc.
