Default Finally starting restoration

First, let me say, I have been a member since Dec 07 and although i have not posted alot, I read postings everyday. What a wealth of knowledge to draw from.
I purchased my 81 Vette last November. The car was a great buy. While not a beauty to look at, the frame was true, nothing but surface rust, ran good, crap interior. No rust on the rails at all. Considering its age, great core condition. Since then, while I haven't done a complete frame off restoration project, I have meticulously sanded, ground and refinished the entire undersifde of the car, inclusive of all the fender wells, underside of the body, replaced any rusted fuel & brake lines, completely replaced the front suspension and removed, cleaned up and/or replaced rear parts as needed. Probably would have been easier to remove the body, but WTH, it's done and looks good.
Now for the next phase:
I am currently pulling the engine, which I am going to bag and store (original engine). Once this is done, I will complete the frame sanding and painting, cleanup the engine bay and I am installing a crate motor from Smedling Performance (350/345hp). While the engine is out, I will be gutting the interior, refurbishing what I can and replacing what I cannot, new carpet is a definite and having the seats redone as well. I am also changing the entire color of the vehicle. Came stock as Creme color. I will be going to Tuxedo black with the camel interior.

As i am sure i will have lots of questions,I hope to draw on the knowledge here at the forum during this undertaking and hope to share my knowledge as time goes on. This leads me to my first 2 questions:

1st Question:
I would like to post pictures of the project as it has and will progress but cannot figure how to get them to the posting.

2nd Question:
As I am changing the color completely and would like the inside of the dor jambs to reflect the new color as well, would it be better to remove the doors completely and have them painted separately, or prep them in place leave them on for the painting. I will be prepping the car myself and then having it painted.

Thanks all

Since you are re-painting it a different color, why go for 'perfection' [and the extra costs associated with it]? Just remove the inside door panels, roll the windows down, and mask the doors off. It will still look very good (if the painter is good).

Not sure about your second question exactly...I think I would leave the doors on and just prep them hinged...but I may be wrong in the best way to do it.

As for posting pics, it's really easy, and this paper should effectively outline how to do it with pics and text.

I believe for a really good 'color change' paint job the doors and hood need to come off to be prepped, and to paint the jams and edges, and then rehung for the exterior spray.

Alan
