I am putting my door hardware back in the doors and find that the door moves when it is latched. Is the latch supposed to hold the door securely or is it the weatherstrip being compressed that keeps the doors from rattling?
The ring that rolls on my my striker bolt seems to be too big for the bolt. I think this could this be my problem but will the weather stripping have to be in place to reduce all movement of the doors?
Hi K80,
I believe the weather strip does need to be in place in order to properly set the striker so the door can be shut without slamming it, the gap is correct and the door is snug against the weather strip.
I found I had to re-set the striker after a few weeks because the weather strip does compress from the pressure of the closed door.

Alan
