Default 1969 yenko lt-1????

Last week I was at a Corvette cruise in fund raiser for a childrens cancer program

There was a 1969 car there that the owner said was a very unique car.

It was said to be a YENKO car that in 1969 , Don Yenko took a 350 /350hP car and added the LT-1 intake / cam / and maybe some other internals.

The data plate behind the shifter had the 1970 LT-1 data 350 / 370hp

The car still had the oiginal red line tach face , not a 6,500 face

I asked if the cars were upgraged in 1970 to the LT-1 parts.

The owner said no , said Don Yenko had the right access to GM upcomming parts that he was able to build these cars in 1969

Has anyone ever heard of this?

By the way over 14K raised to help the children at Brenners Children Hospital

SERIOUS DOCUMENTATION NEEDED to prove the car IS what it is said to be.

Hi David,
I don't know enough to give much of an reply.
Yenko did interesting stuff!!! I would think any $$ value would be in the fact that it might be proved to be a Yenko car. There were no GM 69 LT-1 cars so there's no reason to head that way.
I think any Yenko or Nikey car is interesting.
Regards,
Alan

Yenko did alot of crazy things I hear. I meet a guy here in town that has an orginal 65 coupe that he bought new in 1965 off Yenko Chevy in Pittsburgh. It has a back seat in it, said he made about a dozen that year with back seats. Its wild looking.

It's a Vette that has been updated with newer design parts. Without any solid dated documentation, the story is weak.

Just a guy in a lawn chair making conversation at a car show.

S69,
You mean the same as "I use to be really thin and muscular"!!!! " I have pictures of me to prove it but we just moved and I can't put my hands on them right now" " My friend will vouch for me but he's not here today"
Regards,
Alan

There was a dealer installed LT1 upgrade done on a '69 by Clippinger Chevrolet in Covina CA back in late 1969. The car was tested by Road and Track or Sports Car Illustrated or MotorTrend...(?).

They took the LT1 cam and solid lifters and stuffed it in a 350/350hp L46 coupe then topped it off with a Holley and Aluminum hi-rise. The test was kind of a wash because the car kept fouling plugs. The author of the story said it would have been a great runner if it had been properly tuned for the test.

So who knows, maybe Yenko did the same thing.

I posted this in the other thread, but according to Bizzoco's book, there was at least 1 69 LT1 produced. As I remember though (don't have the book handy) it was only a test mule. As far as the Yenko car, no doubt he could have gotten that done, but as said above, would need some extensive documentation.

Actually, there were two 1969 Corvettes with LT-1s installed in them for the long lead press review in 1969. One of these cars was sold to the public with full warranty after the press was finished driving it. Photos of this car are in Rick Bizocco's 1969 Stingray Guidebook.

It's entirely possible Yenko got his hands on LT-1 parts in 1969 through the back door at GM. Strange things happened in those days.
