Default Steering wheel question

I have a steering wheel off a 69, im getting ready to sell and noticed something im not sure is normal. The wheel appears to be bent, if I lay it flat on a table, the part of the wheel that meets the center cross braces is about 1/4 inch off the table on both sides. Is this normal or has the previous owner bent this somehow?

I cant say it looks like a step, might just not be understanding what you mean. With this one, if I lay it on the table it is off the table where the center ribs meet the wheel. Hard to explain.

Post a pic. '69 wheels are 15" diameter black plastic on a metal frame.

Here is a pic of it, where the center ribs meet the wheel, there is a slight bend to the right. Is this normal or has the previous owner pulled on it hard enough to bend it?

A related question. My 69 has a stock 15" steering wheel with a black leather wrap. A friend of mine has questioned whether the wrap is stock or put on by a prior owner. this is a one piece wrap with stitches on the inside of the wheel, not one of those parts store spiral wraps with the air holes in it and the plastic to hold it on the wheel. I took one of those off of my 69 Mustang vert and I know they are aftermarket. Does anyone know if the 69 Vette had a leather wrapped wheel as an option?

My stock 69 wheel is perfectly straight when placed on a flat surface. The leather wrap is not factory, sounds like a Pelton job, or I have seen kits to do the same thing (eliminates the sticky that happens to those)
Just my opinion and experiences.

Maybe the PO made a panic stop and bent the frame a bit.

I would think that too but its bent towards the driver, he must have pulled on it pretty hard. Now I just need t figure out how to staighten it without doing damage. Any ideas?

Mind 69 did the same thing, it starts off bent just a little, leave it out side in the sun with the top down and the heat will draw it to the point the SS ring will pop off. I could not find a way to repair short of buiding a new repro Steering whell.....
