How much does an average bag setup cost? Assuming the OPs is better than average, how much would someone pay if they wanted to bag their Vette and still did some of the work themselves?
matt, sterling accessories sells a bolt on c3 air ride for 3k.

and if you pay 3k for that setup you're on crack... or maybe some sort of meth
now my car was sponsored quite a bit, so i can't give what i paid for my setup but let's say if you were out shopping for what i have you're looking at close to 5500.00 installed... so subtract a bit from installation and probally parts wise about 4k
also, air ride was put on this vette for 2 reasons... to look sick as hell when at a car show slammed, and for ride quality/handling... like stated before it will ride like a caddy

Wow that's a lot of money for something that can't be utilized while driving or cruising. I mean, when my car is sitting still I spend the least amount of time in and around my Vette. That's like a $5K parking brake. Something you only use when you stop.
I can think of a lot of other things that look awesome when the car is at a car show, and all of them are just as functional and awesome looking when they are being driven.
Yeah V has a point, I have driven an air ride Cadillac and it handled like poop. Sure, it was smooth going in a straight line, but that didn't apply very often.
This is not really a true statement. I have personally seen several comparisens for both road course setup and drag setups and there ahs been significant improvments in the handleing and time slips with air ride. Just beacause it floats down the highway like a cadilac doesnt mean with a littel change in pressure it wont handle like a vette should have.
Just my opinion but if you take a look online at some of the major players site you can see the data in real life not just my word.

Later
pretty much... still has performance shocks at all four corners along with an upgraded sway bar in front...
also the air ride can be adjusted while driving... i mean it's not like it's stuck or somthing... like when going up a steep driveway or railraod tracks or somthing i can raise it up... or dirivng down a smooth road i can set it lower than normal... along with looking damn good while sitting still...
somtimes you gotta spend a bit of cash to be cool...
hmmm i take it you guys haven't been to a minitruck show or seen the things these people are doing...

Why the negativity? This looks like it is going to be a very nice looking Vette with a lot of hard work and thought put into it. I, for one, am very appreciative of the contribution to this great forum that Trucks_69 has made
Hey Trucks, I have said it a few times already and I'll say it again. I totally respect all the hard work and time and pride that has gone into your Corvette. we all strive to make these cars our own with touches of what we like and not what everyone else likes.
I'll still just trying to grasp the reasoning, and the trying to understand the benefits vs the investment.

This is completly what this is all about not everything a has to have a direct performance purpose sometimes it's just there to look good!!!!!!

I did minitrucks for a while. I built a nice s10 blazer on that was bagged it was fun. I have also been involved latley with redoing a mazda, and a Electra
A FEW of us feel the same way about halo headlights and spider light tail lights. No need to start bashing the OP.
Fixed.
You actually posted that a full day after I was expecting it.
Besides...they're hardly comparable. Both my headlights and taillights can be used at all times including driving and sitting still, AND, the combined investment for both is only about $130. That's a far cry from a few thousand.

OK, since this involves $1000s rather than $100s I guess its OK to bash. Proceed.
By the way, this isn't the first bagged vehicle that you have seen is it?

Well I wouldn't even call what I was saying is bashing. Just expressing an opinion and asking questions. You going to fault me for that?
No, I have seen lots of bagged and dropped cars and trucks. I have never understood the appeal, which is why I was curious about the cost and usefulness. I think it's funny though, that the OP bashed a fellow C3 owner and fellow forum member who happened to have a different style dropped C3. I don't see you defending Lowride Vette against the OPs comments, calling HIS car a failure when he probably spent just as much time and effort making his car...his.
hahaha don't get into a bitch fight over here guys...
but hey, this is somthing that will greatly help the drivability of the c3 vette, cause i don't know about you but it's not the best riding or handling car i've ever driven...lol
so i'm trying to do somthing about that... but hey everyone in intitled to their opinion... did i mention that i didn't pay anywhere near 5k for this setup... **** even 3k is more than i have wraped up into all of this... i'm just saying if average "joe the plumber" was to do this he'd have to shell out the dough...
btw i'm in the middle of doing some crazy style headlights for this, they'll still be pop-up but instead of the big bug-eyes i'm gonna do somthing a lil different... so pics when i start that project

That is the problem with our Corvettes. All the work we do defies all the rules of investment or benefit. The biggest benefit if how we feel when we are done with them. I have so many plans for mine that I know that once I'm done, I'm putting more money into a rubber bumber car than I have any chance of getting back. This guy is building his vision, and for that I commend him. We all love our cars and seek to make them expressions of ourselves.
