First off, congrats on the finish and awards, The car looks great.
I have been looking to do some thing with air ride but wasn't sure if I would go with bags or with the shock wave. After seeing your setup I like your approach to the design. When I seen the car in the beginning of the post, I didn't like the way the wheels were changing their camber as it was adjusted up and down. I see that by adding the link between the control arm and the bags control arm, you solved that problem, allowing the strut rods to do their job in keeping the camber as correct as they can.
What did you use on the front, bags or shock waves? If bags, how did you relocate the shock?
How do you think it would/will perform out on a track?
I am hoping the system I design/build would give me better adjust-ability and perform better than the original spring system ever has.
WOW - now that's a beauty!!!!!!!!! AND thank you bro for doing something that YOU wanted to do!!! These kinds of mods show creativity and individuality! Unlike the purists that "paint by numbers". Just GREAT!!!
Trucks_69,
I've been following this thread for awhile now and seen the low rider flames. I actually never even thought about bags on a Vette even though many of the low riders in my car club established in 1968 are bagged. A few are award winners at Motorama in Long Beach California.
I have evolved since the old low rider days and own a Vette and I'm out of place with my old club.
I would have liked to see the looks on the doubters faces when they saw your finished Vette. Outstanding job and it looks awesome on the ground.
It is a Vette and a low rider too. The pics just blew me away and were even better than the rendering. Congrats on the trophy and all the cudo's I know you got.
thanks alot guys... and i wasn't really going for a "low rider" look, i was going for more of a "street rod" look
and as for my front bag setup, i'm using 2600lb air lift dominator bags with a relocated shock
that's the best pic i have at the moment...
i'm also still running my sway bar in the front and depending on ur stiffness in shocks the car should handle good... i can tell you this tho, this car rides better than any c3 i've ever driven/riden in...
If you look under Cruisin Davey G, you will find more posts and threads on this pristine machine. Dave is the owner of the Vette however Steve (son, trucks) has done a lot of the work on it to get it where it is today. Both super guys and knowledgeable to boot. I believe both track both forum names so either one should answer eventually.
