$3.60 per gallon, (99 cents a liter) I tell people it's gallon per feet, because I really don't care to know, no matter what it is, the enjoyment is worth it.

Yes, and surprise-surprise, I heard on the radio that OPEC plans on cutting production next month to keep the price up.

Go here: www.gasbuddy.com

You can make yourself some custom graphs and read a lot of good stuff on gasoline that is written for regular folk like you and me. The main response I would have to the above is to remember that the cost of crude oil is only about half the cost of the gallon of gas you get from the pump. That said, if you run some graphs for yourself, I am sure you, as I did, will come to the conclusion that pump prices should come down further in the near future if crude prices stay at their current levels and the refiners aren't giving us the big one in the exhaust pipe.

I agree with 77vetter. When the vette was on the road gas was $4.00 a gallon here in Maryland. Now that it's in a million pieces and i am knee deep in my restoration, price of gas drops. Who knows, by the time i'm done it should be back up to $6.00'gallon.

Governments add copious taxes to the cost of a gallon of gasoline (liter of petrol). It's to their advantage to keep the prices up because it is a great source of revenue that isn't generally recognized as taxation by the public. In Europe you have socialist systems that tax you highly and provide lots of "services". I'm sure that the Spanish government is making big bucks (euros) off of their gas taxes. Even our less socialistic system is highly unmotivated to act to reduce gasoline prices. Income is income.

Gasoline is taxed by the gallon in the US. So, the higher cost per gallon does not increase the tax revenue. Plus gasoline taxes help pay for the roads you drive on. If California didn't have the road system they do, you get to the grocery store.

Wow!! That seems like a great price. It has not been too long ago when we thought that was high. I saw regular gas had gotten down to $2.50 on my way home this afternoon.
On a positive note, it cost me less than $50 the last time I filled the Z06 up with gas. I did an endzone dance after seeing the price on the pump.

BTW, while I feel nothing but sympathy for our European brother car enthusiasts, we need to remember that their countries are not much bigger than the average county in Texas and their infrastructure and economy has never been based on cheap energy. On the other hand, our infrastructure (massive regional and interstate highway systems and suburban sprawl) was created differently by leaders with a "vision" in the 1950s and 60s. That was largely to accommodate the land developers, who became filthy rich from turning farms and orchards into tract housing, but that is our legacy and we can't absorb those high energy prices because we drive a heck of a lot more miles than the average European. That was all based on cheap energy, so it's our government's and our corporation's duty to provide that cheap energy.

There are a lot of variables built in to production of oil -other than the day to day prices of crude!!! When you go to the Jewelers-do they change the price of their rings everyday to what to going rate of what Gold is? Why not. Well-their rent, electricity, insurance, salary, payroll service, etc don't change...JUST the cost of RAW materials.

Here in the south- when we had gas stations that didn't have gas for weeks- the Gas stations lost their A$$...Why because of stupid "low sulfur" regulations and the blend has to change on Sept 21- and it becomes ILLEGAL to sell the summer blend- so the oil producers don't want to be sitting on it... That's what the GOVERNMENT does...

Orchard into houses?- That what the people wanted....The "filthy rich" didn't force the people to have nice big lawns.

Europeans- are forced by GOVERNMENT TAXES placed on the gasoline not to use much...

I don't think it is going to last.

Here in Belgium the government invented the click-system, which basically makes the gas go up with the oilprice, but when it goes down, only half of it's lowered price gets deducted....pure theft.

i´m agree with you, my goverment do the same ... a five years ago the liter of gas cost 0.50 euros per litre now cost more than 1.1 euros per litre and the steal benefits are for my goverment and they don´t drop prices when gas prices go down only drop 0.1 or 0.15 i best cases.. so here they uses the european click-system.. too

We should all stop driving and draw all the money out of our bank accounts. I would think that would scare the hell out of them. But, like always, nobody will do it.

in response to people saying gas prices havent dropped enough, i hear you. but, i talked with a couple people in the biz once. they said gas takes about 10 days for the price to go up fully when barrels go up, and about 20 to fully go down. it sucks but thats the way the cookie crumbles. who here would not make an extra buck if they could...
