New member seeking some basic information
I recently purchased a 69 Tuxedo Black 350/350 Coupe that's a nice 57,000 mile original with repaint.
Kind of a stripper with no options other than the 350/350 and 4:11 rear.
With the low miles however, comes quite a bit of maintanence that will be needed in the way of suspension, brakes and correct detailing etc.
I plan on tearing her down over the winter and was wondering where the best place was to find information on factory correct finishes.
I'll need to get an assembly manual but curious if there's any information out there for correct component plating and or finish for cosmetic detailing.
Thanks.
John

Are the rotors still riveted to the hubs? Original interior and pedal pads in lightly worn condition? Not an acid test, but if they aren't I'd be questioning the 57k miles thing and thinking 157k. Numbers match?
Good luck with it.

NCRS website is a great place to ask direct correctness questions, too.
All the literature suggestions are right on.
You should think about joining the NCRS for lots of reasons, one of which is the incredible amount of information the membership generates.
I think you're in for some big fun with your 69.

PS: Besides the AIM you mention, you should consider getting the GM Chassis Service Manual for 69, too. Although it's not a source of finishes it IS a big help for almost anything you run into in working on your car.
I'm sure your right. I haven't done enough verification to make that claim. The seller planted that seed in my head. The rear suspension certainly looks patina'ed enough to be original. The brake, gas and clutch pedals look original and very slightly worn, and the odometor still works and at 57,000 and is still lined up horizontally perfect.
The interior looks like it could be original, or a slightly worn replacement, but it's hard to tell. The carpet looks replaced.
Your likely right about the 157,000 miles though.
The numbers do match on the engine and trans, I havent checked the rear but can tell it's never been out of the car.
Not sure if I like the 4:11 rear.
Thanks to everyone for the referance suggestions.
How about aftermarket parts?
Who is the best supplier for "Correct appearing" reproduction parts.
All I really know about is Ecklers and Paragon.
Thanks
