When installing side pipes, why do some 'vettes have the metal molding below the door removed and some do not? I have seen pictures both ways and have always wondered if trimming is required to get the molding to fit...
I need to trim a little bit of the rocker molding where the pipes come out from under the front. They were trimmed with the other headers, but these new ones set just a little different. I'll take a 3" diameter drum sander and open them up. Don't know about the SB guys, but I've got 2-1/8 primary tubes and they do take a bunch of room.
Thanks for the info guys! I was thinking the same thing... I am getting a set of used Hookers with 2-1/8 primary tubes also, so I may end up having to butcher the molding. I just think a car with side pipes but without that molding looks incomplete...
I believe the Hooker Supercomp side pipe setup and the 4 inch side pipe which is sold for C3's takes very little modification. There are lots of old posts on this topic if you do a search for side pipes
