I just had heat installed in my garage two weeks ago, in anticipation of re-assembling my '69 this winter. My car was in the paint shop and I was cleaning out the garage to make room for the project. I tripped over some car parts and broke/dislocated my shoulder. So, now I'm in a sling for 6-8 weeks. The painter called me 30 minutes after I got home from the hospital to let me know the car was done. I have 95% of the parts. I guess this gives me a little more time to find the rest. Here are a few pics...they really don't do it justice.
I was in the garage, when the phone rang. I quickly started walking/jogging to pick up the phone when I tripped over my air hose that had become coiled up on the floor. I fell like a ton of bricks and slammed my forehead and nose onto the concrete floor. I was surprised how hard I hit. I had scruff marks on my forhead and nose. People at work wanted to know if I was in a bar fight. It's a good thing I didn't hit my head on a sharp object, could've been really seriously hurt.
Your Vette is looking good. Just wait until all the pieces are hung back on it! Take your time. I had a friend from my gym who did a similar number to his shoulder and tried to come back too fast. He ended up re-injuring it, needing surgery and was set back many weeks more than he would have been if he just took it easy.
It's amazing how fast you can fall when taken totally off guard. I think most of us have been there.
Hi 99,
I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune. I hope you'll be able to get to work on that great looking 69 soon.
It's a shame it couldn't be BLACK and SHINY!!! WOW!!!
Regards,
Alan
Looks really good so far! You'll have plenty of winter to finish it up.
Amazing how fast those garage mishaps happen with stuff in the way. Last winter I was stepping on/over/around some garage debris, my feet shot out behind me like a reverse Charlie Brown and I went head first into one of my Oldsmobiles' fenders. I had about half a second to savor that intense pain until a cast iron 455 intake fell on my leg. I still have traces of that bruise...

Honest, I'm laughing WITH you, not AT you.
I have sooooooo been there many times myself. How about the time when I was about 7 years old (yup, been wrenchin' that long) I jacked up a '65 Mustang in the mud. The jack sank, the car fell, and dribbled my head like a basketball between the radiator support and the ground. That's the very reason I have 3/4" plywood I sit the jackstands on now when I'm in the yard and need to jack something up. I had a headache for while after that. If I'd have known I was gonna live this long, I would've been more careful.
By the way, the paint looks amazing! Congrats on the beautiful job so far. Like everyone else said, heal first, wrench second.

By the sound of things, these types of accidents may happen far more often then we think. Please be careful out there. We can, and do, get injured in other ways then just being behind the wheel.
Al,
Your Vette looks GREAT!! Man am I jealous! I wish I would have had the time to finish it!!
We just moved so it's a good thing I sold it as I really wouldn't have the time for it for a while. Keep sending me pictures so I can see the progress. I hope you heal up soon so you can get it finished. Take care and GREAT job! Jeff
Thanks Jeff!! You deserve all of the credit in getting this project rolling along. You did awesome work on it. All of the "hard" work that you did, which isn't readily seen, is some of the work that I am the most proud of. This car should handle and run, as good as it looks.
looks GREAT! you are doing an awesome job....take some time to re-coop and gather up the rest of the parts you need, you have plenty of time before spring/summer. good luck, rick
Al,
Thanks for the compliments! I think the 17x8 & 18x8 or 18x9 Coy's will really make that car stand out!! What ever you use will look great!
Keep us posted with progress!

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
