Default 1968 engine swap

I'm thinking about putting a crate 502 in my 1968 convertible. anybody have any insight for a first time c3 owner. the car is an original 427 car. sadly the 427 is long gone. now has a beat-up 396 under the hood. any spots I might look to find a decent deal an an engine would be greatly appreciated. i'm really trying to make this a painless as possible 'cause I took a bath on the car already.

Hi Ed,
I believe that if you move your post to the Tech/ Perfomance area of the C3 Forum you'll get a lot of replies and help.
Regards,
Alan

PS: I think 68s are undervalued, so maybe you didn't pay too MUCH, just too SOON.
