Default Interior cleaning

Hi guys,

Need some help, just bought a '69 coupe with a GUNMETAL interior. The interior is in good shape, but quite dirty. Is there anything I can use to remove the grime & bring it back to a clean look?

Hi F,
I believe I'd use a house-hold cleaner (Fantastic, etc,) for the dash area, door panels, and hard plastic parts. Then automotive carpet cleaner for the carpet. For the seats either vinyl or leather cleaner from the the auto parts store.
Then I like to use Pledge to give it all (not the carpet) a bit of a shine.
Gunmetal interior... hmmm... nice, what color is the exterior?
Good Luck!!!
Regards,
Alan

No offense, Alan, but DON'T use Pledge. It is a petroleum-based product and is no better than using Armor-All on vinyl . Buy some Nu-Vinyl or other polymer-based protectant/coating made for vinyl. Meguiar's has some in their line...I stand by Nu-Vinyl.

Use a diluted mixture of Dawn dish detergent and water to clean off the old Armor-All , smoke stains, grease, etc. Then go back and rinse it WELL so there is no remaining soap residue. Let thoroughly dry, then put on your polymer protectant. If I were you, I'd remove the seats so that I could easily clean & coat them AND be able to easily get to all the other interior pieces.

Hi 7T1,
Thanks for the heads-up. I've been using Pledge for many years. I'm going to check the ingredients now. I liked it because it didn't make the vinyl too shiny or oily looking. Live and Learn!!!
Regards,
Alan
