I got my tranny back this week, stayed with the lock up deal. The converter is at the local tranny shop getting reworked. They braze the fins, and will try to get me an extra 500 stall rpm out of it as well. ...
A higher stall w/ lockup should be a great way to go assuming it can handle the power one has. Evidently you looked into it. That could make a good topic.
Yes i did. I spoke to the converter guy and gave him the HP and TQ rating of the new motor. He said with what they did to the converter, it would handle it.
I don't type & made that post too short. I assumed you ascertained it could handle your power. What I meant to say is:
A higher stall w/ lockup should be a great way to go (not only for you- also for others assuming it can handle the power one has). Evidently you looked into using your lock up converter trans. unlike many who just switch to non lockup.
The green wire goes to the fast idle on the carb and another green wire goes to the temp sending unit in the head on left side. My 82 only has the one to the temp unit. doctorgene
Well i got the diffy back, we installed a new set of posi clutches and axle seals. The bearings were all good as well as the 3.08 gear set. New polly bushings went into the bat wing and a fresh coat of paint.
A bit more progress today, i have a week off here in April, and hope to get the front nose off, get the body lifted and then get the new body mounts in place. After that the frame and floor of the car gets attention. Plus the motor will be out this week too, make room to get at all the front end and steering sh*t. The Shafts have all Hd ujoints from Napa in them.

I am just using Automotive paint from the local auto parts store. As for the frame and under body, there is a product called EZ-liner. It is a nice bed liner that bites into metal and drys hard not soft like most. My friend used it on the under side of his Nova, and it looks great. It has a nice smooth finish when its done.
Well i got my new Edelbrock intake and carb this week, i also placed an order with Ecklers for all my suspension as well. The put a great package together for me including a composite rear spring, matching front springs and shocks, as well as sway bars. I also ordered the polly control arm bushings, will get the rest of the front end parts locally.
Took the hood off last night , and will get the motor out this coming week. I am on holidays so things are going to happen this week. More pictures to follow.
Hello Mr. Grumpy. I just love your project. I did the motor, Trans. and everything in the suspension , But; THE TRAILING ARMS bad mistake, I just got in new arms from Jacobs Vettes in Coraopolis, Pa. what a name, but the product was just perfect. I painted the metal parts with Krylon Clear, and the rotors Red Van Sickle Industrial Enamel, you can't use it where the sun shines, No UV protection, but has Rust Arrestor, oil base, no lead About 20 bucks a gallon, ( At your local farm store ) My friends all made fun of me on the color combo. I had the paint what can I say, and the black arms, were coated black when they came in. I bought everything new, instead of rebuild. Your car looks Wild man, I love it and the Corvette Forum. Well the motor is out now, and the front end is a complete mess. I will know the front suspension off the car soon and start on the frame and replacing the body mounts. My buddy's work has an industrial parts washer, that will make life better lol.
Keep up the good work Mr. Grumpy, Looks good, I'm glad that I'm all through with the suspension, I'm ready to go cruising tomorrow, I found that the front end was more work than the rear end. The front end was just like yours, oily, greasy. I put all new stainless steel brake lines while the engine was out, easy, all but the 3 bolts along the top edge of the frame, they were hard to get started, LOL. and a few cold beers. I might of left one of them out, if a friend of mine hadn't been here to watch over me. Old G. M. retired line worker. He said he never left out bolts in his 30 years. I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. Have a great one. Doctorgene
Yeah i like to color things up a bit, black is so boring lol. The frame will be black, and so will the floor of the car, but i like a bit of contrast under the car. Kind of like building a model car i guess, but with money lolololololol.
Well if you have ever tried to remove a front end, it is a big job. I went and bought a pickle fork to loosen the ball joints, Hammer swinging room is a must lol. Now the control arms are next, then off to the bead blaster to clean em up then paint and re-assembly of the control arms.
