You should be able to purchase fire and theft for a specific amount on the car. I have one right now and I think it is costing me 25.00 every six months. It’s real cheap even if I’m wrong. I’m sure there is an insurance agent on here that would be better suited to answer this question.
However, if it’s apart you should be able to just purchase a fire and theft policy while you work.
fire and theft makes sense, but I am wondering, rather than auto insurance, could it be covered on home owners insurance? Seeing as how its just parked and all.
My '79 is absolutely mint--I only drive it a few miles a week, and all I've got on it is the minimum liability required by law. It is garaged, and insured by Smith & Wesson.
Call your homeowner's insurance agent and ask what a rider for covering the VALUE of your car would cost you to add to your existing policy. Then call Hagerty and ask them what comprehensive and theft coverage ONLY would cost (assuming it is being kept in a locked garage at your home). Take the least expensive option.
