Who spends more time on the forum (or forums) then actually working on the car?

Since my workshop is 20 minutes away and I have 3 kids, I haven't much time to work on the Vette. I estimate an average of 5 hours a week. But I seem to be spending 7 to 10 hours a week on the forums.

These are the crime scenes.

I spend time on the forum while working, and in my defense in the winter it's colder in my garage than it is outside and in the summer I would rather not take something apart that would keep me from driving it the following day. I keep my summer work to minor easily fixed things and leave the large projects for the shivering of winter.

I would say right now more time is spent on the forum, but come spring I would say more time driving and working on the car.

A lot more time on this forum, since both cars don't need any work.

I can't believe how stupid I was 18 months ago, this forum has saved me lots of work and made me buy from whom I should.... Sure I am a bit of a nerd talking to people via computer, but it is all great spirited and educational. I was an ignorant fool.. now I am just a fool.

Too cold in the garage right now,, and being a newbie to the C3 scene, I spend lots of time reading and (hopefully) learning!
When it warms up enough, there are things to tackle,, heater core replacement, tach board replacement,, ujoints, wheel bearing repacks,,, the list goes on, and on, and on,,,, much better doing that stuff than sitting in front of the idiot box.

This site is fantastic!, the knowledge and helpfullness of the members is amazing! That's why one can spend so much time cruising the site,,, and (hopefully) learning!
Kudos to all!

Spending more time on the forum than working on a car keeps my hands cleaner.Plus the forum is enjoyable.

this forum has something to belive in it.... i like this forum and always you will find some men trying to help if you have doubts...till today i don`t forgget the first message that i learn in this forum....

Read, heard what people say here, learn the lesson that you find here (all technical posts an then understand it, and when you have a true doubt then you will find it in some lost post...

for me this forum learns to me too many things that i never imagine that i could learn in my life...

If you're constantly fixing things, maybe you should start buying better parts. Had the 81 for 11 years, replaced damn near everything in it and on it in 1999 and haven't had any issues since. For the 68 (owned it since 2001) I've replaced nothing but fuel lines and a radiator. As for the 80, I've had that for two years and haven't had any issues with it either. I've replaced a lot of stuff that was working perfectly fine for performance purposes, but with 3 vettes over 11 years I've never had any issues of constant repair like I always hear about here. In fact, they've been more reliable than newer cars I've had that have since come and gone over those same years.

Spent three years getting her to what I wanted and Thank You everyone for your help. Now I spend more time on forum because she's a new car. Wrapped in the garage till spring. No leaks or sqeeks just seat time. Can't want till June 6th for Hot Rod Power Tour!

Merry Christmas

If I spent more time on the forum, my car would still look like this.

Instead of this.

But....... Without the help of many, many forum members, that would not have been possible

As we speak I am installing gas heat in the garage.

I got a Reznor 60,000 BTU gas furnace for free.

But I had to install a gas line into the garage.

While I was at it I added more electric service.

All underground.....needed a trencher.

More gas line in the house and into the garage.

So by the time I have heat the free heater will have cost over $2,000.

On my days off I'm working on my Vette as well as my friends Vettes. Some times I have 3 or more cars here at one time and working on all of them at the same time. It's always a good time hanging with friends and working on our cars. I just wish I had my own laptop computer so I wouldn't have to be running up stairs ( to my desk top ) all the time to get on the forum to ask a question or look something up. The last time I used my wifes laptop in the garage I got greasy finger prints on it... Well that put a end to that.
I'm on here most all my spare time "for hours" learning. Hey, it keeps me off the other sights

A typical day at my house...

I set up a computer in my garage for just this purpose. It's a small desktop computer and a meager monitor but it stays out there year round and when I am out in the garage working I can very easily and quickly hop online and look something up without going inside to clean up and get on my good computer. It's just a handy tool to have in the garage.

It depends! When I'm doing a restoration, it's all work and no play, but when the work is done, it's time to relax on the forum. Right now with the slowing economy, it's more time on the forum.
