Cloning...on a budget....

Scott will have your baby looking GREAT.I have no doubt of that.Have you sen his dad's old race car? That thing is ...
I've heard bad things on the Quincy place. I ended up going with St Louis Plating. Ask me how I think I did in a couple weeks.
Hard to believe, eh?I grew up with a guy who is still shooting custom paint on full custom bikes on the Discovery Channel today! (helps to get a seeeeerious discount!) I could never have afforded him if we hadn't gone to 7th grade together.

That wouldn't be one Dave Perowitz would it?.........So when do we get to see pictures of these dare I say it
"customs"?

In the first Discovery he was on, he was explaining why he outines the flames by hand striping, and he said "it's pahht of the chahhm" in his best Boston/Norwood accent. I've been ripping him ever since about it.
My old, old pics of Keith's custom jobs are terrible:

The upper color was a spectacular candy magenta... always photographed reddish. Lots of "Best Paints."

Deep purple and blues over black, tough to photograph- cant see it at all here...

Paints not custom... roof's just cut off!

The beauty of this was the polished injected motor, engine compartment was amazing. This was the Super Chevy car.
Again, the pix stink. I have another of my black/silver '68 which was my favorite, but again, a tough car to photograph... still looking...

) that's been a multiple Goodguys award winner among others and he is real nice guy. He was real friendly to my daughter (who was about 5+ at the time) and went out of his way to get a big poster and personalize for her. That kind of stuff goes along way with me. I admire when these guys go out of their way for kids. Dave really made her day by doing that and mine as well.By the way you had some pretty interesting "stuff" there. Will there ever be dare I say this another "custom" in the future? Remember never say never.

I could see you in a chrome bumper C3 'vert with a stock body and paint but 17" Cragers with Diamondback Redlines and a LS motor attached to an O/D standard trans.

My '69 getting painted right now is a triple black 350 hp convertible, with rallys and Diamondback redlines and a big block hood, just 'cause I like them. The interior is basically stock (except for leather) but the ashtray door actually contains an airbrushed mural Keith did for me for the following car back in 1979. I've kept the ashtray lid all these years, and its going to be cool putting it in my '69 in 2009.
I could easily get into a car just as you described. Good call.
Here's that car from '79: a '68 roadster, with a black to silver pearl fade
that looked like a car seen often in the Motion/Maco ads. It had an Eckler L88 hood, and a detailed mural on the scoop, like they used to do back then in the 70's (give me a break, huh?) Like I said, the pics are old and terrible, but you get the idea...
Kevin, I promise Im done hijacking your thread...

That's pretty awesome about installing the ashtray door in the 69 that Scott is doing.
Alright......just watched a stupid movie w/the wife,and I am calling it a night....Good-night John Boy........

Okay....this will be the last set of pics fr alittle while.I am trying to get the flares ready to finish,so I'm not making so much dust.Got paint work to start on in the next couple days, and need to get the shop cleaned up,blown out,and wanted to get this car where I can jump on mechanicals, etc. to not stir up the dust.

Here's the fronts....cutting the fender, and my first strip of fiberglass to get the flare in place,so I can remve the screws, and the big c- clamps, grind down to shape, and get the next 2 layers of glass on to finish them off on the outside.....

If ya all like the angles, and transition from the flare to the quarter....I got most the angle from a 3" rotisery 60 grit disk.It made for a nice shape, then finished out w/a long board after the coat only of resin.I know alot of people think that air on vettes is a no-no,and I usually do ALL my bodies by hand, but for roughing, and shaping...I use air.You just have to keep your tool moving all the time.
To me.....seeing cars like this...are more beautiful than done cars!

I LOVE fast cars that are cool w/primer spots all over them.

Now I have to strip her....

In a "perfect" world this car would have been done by now but I'm sure most would agree this world we live in right now is far from "perfect". Believe me I wish I could tell you the car is done. A down economy (the majority of my salery is based on commision) and some major unforeseen family issues not health related force you to realize hobbies are luxuries not neccessities. Although I am happy to say the project is in the works again.
In the last couple of months there has been some nice progress. Hopefully we will be able continue moving ahead. We should have some undate pictures in the not to distant future. Thanks for your interest.
....it has been one hellova couple of years with the economy. I jumped into a part commission based position late 2008. I read the fine print for the position and nowhere did it say "Beware of Breaking Bubbles".
Anyway I do love the flares and am strongly considering them for my 75. Cant wait to see yours progress.
