'78 auto trans question
i just bought a '78 L82 with an auto transmission, should the shifter have a stop between neutral and reverse? modern cars if in drive will stop if the shifter is pushed forward from drive toward reverse at the nuetral position. on this vette from drive it can be pushed to reverse with out a stop. is that normal or is it something that i need to investigate? also before someone asks all this is done with out pushing the button at the top of the shifter. the button has to be pushed to get it out of park though.

I never actually tried it to see what would happen. 
I know that the design engineers included a safety feature that would [hydraulically] prevent the trans going into reverse if the governor pressure signal had more than a low level (indicating very slow speed).
