I'm 6'5", 265 lbs. No problem with my 81 Vet. I spent my whole life fitting into places that are too small for me. I usually put my right foot in all the way past the steering column and kind of pull myself in.
As far as getting out I have to be more careful than when I'm
getting in. Banging my elbows is my problem. On Christmas day I banged my left elbow on the doorjamb getting out of the car and it still hurts!
My 65 vert is tougher to get in when I have either top on.
People say 'It's sure looks hard getting in and out" but I tell them it's worth it
Now on the other hand the 1st time I drove my brothers 93 when I tried to get out I actually had to roll out of the car onto the pavement! I felt like such an a$$. THAT car is a pain to get in and out of. It's like sitting in a bath tub.
I don't even think about trying to fit behind the sterring wheel of a C1.
When I first got my 65 it had a standard steering column with the original steering wheel. I wasn't comfortable driving it because the top of my thighs would hit the back of the steering wheel coming off the clutch and brake pedals. The Vet has manual steering. I put a smaller aftermarket steering wheel on but it was too hard to steer. I ended up getting an original telescopic column for the Vet and that solved my problem with my legs hitting the steering wheel.
There is an easy way. I am 6'4" 235 and I just kinda roll out on my left knee and push myself up off the car. It is the "Butt" dragger I said I would ever own. If you are not a little tall you can't see over the fender wells. Getting into it is harder than getting out, I think.
