Yup...I can help, or at least this works for me.. open your door full wide...swing out both legs & put your feet on the garage floor...now put you hands on the sill trim & push up & forward with your arms just don't drive your head through the window I usually leave my window open until I get out then I lock it! Dont ask
i end up rolling out of mine... i'm 6'3 220 and my vette is lowered.....if the tops are off and the windows are down, i usually just step over the door to get in
i am 5-10 and about 265 i get out of the 61 very easy ,i leave the top down but on the 72 coupe its a little harder i put my feet out first the put my hand on the quarter panel and twist out i works for me
If you have hard time getting out of a C3, try getting out of a C4.
I'm 6'5", 265 lbs. No problem with my 81 Vet. I spent my whole life fitting into places that are too small for me. I usually put my right foot in all the way past the steering column and kind of pull myself in.
As far as getting out I have to be more careful than when I'm
getting in. Banging my elbows is my problem. On Christmas day I banged my left elbow on the doorjamb getting out of the car and it still hurts!
My 65 vert is tougher to get in when I have either top on.
People say 'It's sure looks hard getting in and out" but I tell them it's worth it
Now on the other hand the 1st time I drove my brothers 93 when I tried to get out I actually had to roll out of the car onto the pavement! I felt like such an a$$. THAT car is a pain to get in and out of. It's like sitting in a bath tub.
I don't even think about trying to fit behind the sterring wheel of a C1.
I don't drive the C3 unless the weather is perfect. Partly because I don't ever want to put the T-Tops back in it, partly because it leaks like a sieve and primarily because the windshield wipers stopped working a few years ago and I haven't been able to get them going again... lol It's easy climbing in and out with the t-tops out... I have a C5 for a bad weather car
6'1 ,230lbs and a Geezer and Gettin out is easy ...but....Gettin in I have to put my leg in then kinda slide down against the seat ..
So now I have noticed a worn spot in my seat .......... ( of the car )
haha funny topic...
Getting out isn't bad for my wife and I. We always warn each other "side pipes". Although when she went by herself and got it inspected she forgot the pipes. I was jealous of the first manly tattoo going to her! Getting out I swing my leg over the pipe and I'm good.
Getting in is a bit more difficult. I use my 71 as a DD so I have to dodge the bottom of the steering wheel (avoid getting a black mark on my pants). This is accomplished by one foot in, and then kinda falling in sideways. The amount of falling is magnified by the available room on the drivers side to open my door completely.
The most annoying thing is when I get in the car after all that then realize I forgot to throw the battery switch gate before I got in. Yes I have a parasitic loss that I'm not going to fix until it warms up... !
6'4'' 225lb . . . getting in is more like a controlled fall. Getting out is a whole other story; I swing both legs out over the sidepipes (glad I bought covers), then I slide my butt on to the door sill and push on the steering wheel with my right hand. I get funny looks when people see my lanky body unfolding out of that thing . . . can't wait until I lower car another 1". I might have to try out some of these other techniques
I'm 6'-3", 230 lbs and 68 yrs old. I've been "grunting" when I get out of mine for the last 10 years. When I started grunting, my wife said that it was time to think about selling the Vette. Needless to say, I didn't take her advise!
Getting in C5:
1. Open door
2. Turn around and back into car being careful to not hit my head on the a-pillar or top or to rub my but against the side bolster.
3. Twist body and swing legs into car.
It is much easier with the top down, and the steering wheel tilted up and motored forward.
Getting out of C5:
1. reverse above sequence, being careful to not grunt or hit my head on the top.
2. I do use the side bolster to push off from with my left had, when standing up.
The C3 is totally different. I haven't figured out a graceful way to get in or out of it yet. I just bought one with Hooker side pipes, so I better figure it out fast, or buy some asbestos socks!
I usally swing my right leg in under the stering wheel and drag my left leg in. I won't be able to do that with hot side pipes. Maybe the first step is to remove the T-top..
The one time I got out of a C4, I ended up on my hands and knees next to the car, and it was embarrasing.

I was looking at a '57 at a local dealer, and there is NO WAY I could get behind the wheel. I didn't even open the door...
