If you want to make your car look worse overall for the sake of making it look different than do it. Or if you like that type of thing then go for it. Personally - why spend time and money on something that only detracts from the beauty of the car and looks chinsy.
I took this pic at an Eckler's Reunion several years ago, so it's probably the kit you're talking about. Strictly a matter of taste. I thought they looked alright on this particular car.....
This the kit a friend gave me. Also Bruthish's silver vette is the same.
One of the reasons I considered fixed head lights is the problem of air pressure actually opening one or both of my head lights. The first time it happened was driving over 160 mph into 30+ mph head winds. Nevada has high winds and I didn't want the additional wind drag of the head lights up. To solve the problem I removed the head light bezzels, My TT nose has a sheet aluminum bottom so the air pressurizes the area in front of the radiator
The best fixed headlights I have seen, was on a blue and white C3, to a member of the forum. I think he had an avatar pic, whith the car doing a wheelie. It looked he had put the headlights in the grill, and closed the original headligt holes. (I think)
Maybe I remember wrong, but anyway, I think it is a great idea.

It looks pretty awful, but if you are in the habit of driving 160 I'm guessing style is the least of your problems.
I have not seen any of the custom headlights that I thought looked good. On a 71 style anyways. I would keep the originals for sure. they look kinda cool and fitting maybe on a race car with big numbers on the side. And I have allways called it "button TUCKED" hmm learn somethin every day..
if i would do the fixed light option id glass in some round lights and make it look like the c6r. other than that id keep the stock ones..
in my opinion, no american muscle car, sports car , or anykind of 'desierable car' ever had square lights before the 80s, and those cars dont look all that good to me either.. sorda reminds me of the ugly sedans of the late 70s and 80s
but some cars do look good with them. i think panic's car looks good with them, but his car is just savage either way..

Neighbor friend of mine up north had a similar concept on his car, the ONE salient advantage being that there was NO annual safety inspection in Maryland at the time, same here in Florida....another reason I moved here....that all aside, the lights below bumper are too lo to pass federal standards via DOT....but if no one is looking, who cares???...
unless you have a **** state looking over your shoulder....
How much weight do you save with these lights? I don't mind them, like the round ones better.
Rod..............you are still alive? I'm not sure of the weight saving. The fixed holder and plexy glass are very lite. I'm going to buy the round with bubbles like the historic road racers.
