Does anyone know where I can find carpet for a 69 Vette with 4 speed. While this sounds simple, mine has a dimmer switch pad in addition to the pad under the brake. I have been searching everywhere and no one seems to make it with that pad. TIA.
Can you use the carpet set for a 70? Are they the same as your 'later' 69 carpet with dimmer pad.
If Wilcox can't help, how about calling a manufacturer like Al Knock and asking them to make you a 69 set with a dimmer pad.
Regards,
Alan
My friend has an early '69 coupe that needed carpet without the dimmer switch pad, when his carpet arrived he had to undo the stitching around the pad to remove it. Carpet came from ACC.
Thanks for the replies. I tried both Wilcox and Al Knock and neither one has it. Wilcox uses ACC and while they may be the biggest, they don't manufacture what is currently in my car. I called ACC and they told me that they don't make the carpet with the dimmer pad. Do I just have a one off configuration? The car was built in March of 69. My journey continues........
Sorry for the late reply of my earlier reply. Wilcox called me back. They found my carpet. For many phone calls that I made, I am cautiously optimistic. I sent a picture of my carpet so that there wouldn't be a missunderstanding. I will let everyone know if it is correct or not.
I spent about $3000 with Ecklers in the past year so they were my first choice. They told me that they didn't have it.
I received the carpet from Wilcox Corvette. I pulled it out of the box and it appears that it is the correct one. It is made by ACC. Funny how they told me that they didn't make this carpet.
Wow! My 69 is a late model (October 16) but I never realized that the pad over the dimmer switch wasn't common to all 69s. All I know is I keep stepping on it when I'm operating the clutch pedal and I'm constantly turning on the high beams by accident. So, if and when I need new carpets, Wilcox and/or ACC are the guys to provide an authentic replacement, huh? I put ACC carpets in my 69 Mustang vert ten years ago and I'm real happy with those. No fading and no obvious wear. When I bought the car the original black carpets were sort of a medium brown from UV. A common problem with first gen Mustang convertibles.
I have a late 69 convertible with Auto, expect the carpet would be the same. Just in process of putting mine from Wilcox in, it is ACC Bright Blue and has 2 pads that cover.
1. Under the brake,
2. To the right of the accelerator,
3. Covers Dimmer Switch
