Default Steering question

Hello all. The steering in my C3 has always been a little loose. Alignment is ok, bushings and ball joints all good, but there's play in the steering cyclinder, resulting in some wander. I was planning on replacing the box and cylinder and anything else I find not up to snuff, but I was wondering if any of you out there installed a steeroids rack and pinion unit and if it was worth the cost and how difficult the install was. Thanks

I think you should search out some of the great papers that have been written about loose steering. First check your rag joint, then the gear lash adjustment followed by the bearing end clearance adjustment in the steering gear.
