Default stinger hood

i have been purchasing parts for my car and wanting to go with a stinger hood for my 79. my question is why such a price difference between eklers and vanacor? is it quality of the hood , fitment issues, whats the difference?

I'm pretty sure that Vanacor bought the molds from Ecklers and are just hand laying them for a smaller price than Ecklers did. I bought my L88 hood from Vanacor and it was great.

Holy crap...their facility burned? That's horrible. Is there someplace that has details on what happened and for how long they'll be out?

let me rephase this....I have been trying to contact them,as others who Have contacted me knowing I am a dealer for them, and the number has been out of service for some time,so....I called a order into ACI,and they told me that Diane's place had burned. That is what I am going off of.I DID NOT hear it from Diane, but I haven't gotten thru to them for over a month, and a half now,and the web site was gone.
Alot of struggles for that family.

Just got an L88 hood from Ecklers 2 weeks ago and just got it back from being put on ...right on the money perfect (after a little smoothing out of fiberglass of course)

An L88 hood might look a little less out of place than the stinger.

What is so out of place as a Stinger Hood?

They are nice but not just as simple as bolting them on. No matter how good the quality of the hood you'll still have to so some sanding and shaping to get them right. Also you'll have to bend down the rad support at the top to make clearance for the lower portion of the hood where the stinger comes to a point. They look great, but a pain in the you know what to get right!

Im gonna have to go with Vettebuyer. I love the hood on the C2s, but on the C3s it looks wierd mainly because the body lines dont match. the straight stinger against the sweeping fenders doesnt look right to me. I would prefer a big block, L88 or raised cowl hood over the stinger hood but thats just my opinion, if you like it put one on, its your car after all

A stinger hood is at the top of my wish list. If I rubbed a magic lamp my wish would be to have that hood on my 72.

I say if you want a stinger hood go for it... Isn't that one of the points of having a Corvette? Making it your own?

There's some nice pics in this thread of Vettes with stinger hoods. (My personal favorite is Curtis74's...no offense to the others because they all look good.)

I hope you find the hood you want at a price you can live with.
