I just stumbled accross it and find your creativity and attention to detail absolutely amazing. I am sure that the "redneck" comment was made out of pure envy.
I do have one thing to give you a heads up on as I had trouble with the current draw of multiple/high flow fans. You may have to deal with some squealing (some belt slipping) off idle. I had to go to a 140A alternator on my C4 project to fix it. The serp belt may not do this but tension looks tough to get with the routing there.
I realy like thoes vents you added to match with the gills. I also like the fan idea and have asked many time if anyone has tried this. I always thought it would be a great assist in cooling. I also have thought that an oil cooler could be mounted with the fan.

I will say it again though...AMAZING
so far so good on the belt. i am running a 130a alt and twin red tops. i was more worried about the power steerng and hydro boost set up causing slippage with the belt routing but it seems to be just fine. after a few thousand miles that may change and i may have to watch the tension or replace belts a little sooner. the only way to tell is to run it and see. i will keep a spare belt handy just in case.
pics will be comming soon. its been crazy for the last few months. friend got very sick and was in the hospital. then we moved his shop to a much bigger place. i got scary sick and am not better. we have been doing the fun stuff like building side pipe covers out of stainelss. its fun to take a flat piece of stainless and get it to bend in a nice curve next to a 90* angle. i will try to get some pics soon.
It could look even nicer if you have the casting marks, ridges, lettering, bungs, etc., removed from the intake and have the intake repolished.
i like that idea. that does look good. i wish i had thought of that before. the intake is jet coated so all i would have to do is the grinding, welding, and then have it stripped and re-jet coated.
i am much better and dan has made a full recovery also. we will be doing lots of time consuming things such as making the heat shields for the sidepipes and the front grill.
we are making progress. we are working on the grill at this time. it has been a very long and time consuming process. it started with poster paper and progressed to wood, now to the aluminum. i do have a few pics that i need to download and post. it is comming along quite well. the hardest part is photographing it to show all the angles and curves. i just cant seem to take a pic that does it justice. i will work on doing that in the next few weeks. i also have the sidepipe covers almost done too. just have to finish the final shaping and cut out a few edges for the right look. i will have to try to get some pics of that too. i will do a write up of how both were made when they are closer to being finished.
Hands down, one of the best i've seen. Pure artwork! I could only dream of having something that nice under the hood of mine. Amazing job, can't wait to see more pics!
thanks for the nice comments. still working on the grill. this thing has been the most time consuming difficult thing on the car. it has been very hard to get the right look and hand cut all the angles for each piece and get the spacing right. i took a few breaks to go to the superboat races. i also recently got a c6 z06 and could not help myself and cut on the exhaust for a cutom look. i will be back on the grill next week and i will put up a few pics of the progress. engine bay should not change too much till i get the body work done the all the final little things will be done and it will go to paint.
