Default custom engine bay in progress (many pics)

follow along as my engine bay is transformed into functional art. many of you may have seen my other thread on my interior. here is a link. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...many-pics.html this just the beginning and i will be posting pics as it progresses. the suspension is going to be replaced with the vbp performance plus system so ignore the well used parts that are in the photos. the headlights are custom and are going to be mounted behind a custom grill. the weight savings so far has been amazing. even after the custom work is done the car will still be quite a bit lighter. i will have a final weight posted when the car is finished. there will also be two electric fans mounted behind the fender covers to help move air through the engine bay. there will be an opening cut on each side for the airflow also. the headlight mounts will also be constructed to help support the front end. here are a few photos of beginning stages. the goal is to keep the entire car flowing together.

It looks like there isn't much room for suspension travel. Is the upper control arm going to have enough clearance when the suspension compresses?

yes the aftermarket control arms sit much flatter and give me a lot more clearance than the stock ones that are on there now. once the new suspension is on we will test it and adjust the cut out if needed. i also have several rubber strips that will be going behind the opening to keep down the road grime and sand.

there will be cuts in each side panel with a trans. cooler fan behind each directing airflow to the side vents.

so i am going to hide it! there will be an aluminum section covering it. the templet is already made. it will be the last piece made. we will be starting on it tonight if everything else goes as planned for the other pieces. last night the metal sheer broke so i had to go get a new one.

I just come back from looking at the custom int. of the car, I'll have to say it all looks great. I really like the way the engine compartment is looking. Very unique.

2000,
GREAT work!!! I see you're in Florida, so you probably don't need a heater, but what about AC? I noticed your pass side shield and heater block off plate would make it impossible to fit an AC unit without some severe cutting. Also, as you are running electric fans, what about a spreader bar in there?

Keep up the good work, and show more photos when ready.
