take the plug out and either get a hand pump or a turkey baster and remove the fluid.

I use the vacuum tank (Topsider) that I use to extract the oil out of the 454 in my SeaRay.

It's come in handy on more than a couple occassions in my garages.

I bought a slurp gun from NAPA to drain it and to add the new gear lube. I think I paid about $12.00 for it.

Turkey baster and a length of rubber hose. It's slow and messy...but you only do it once every 20 years!

thanks for the info. As of today I put a drain plug into the case at the thick web at the back of the case. I had to modify the strut bracket and heat shield in order to get the plug out. When I reassemble everything I'll find out if it will miss the stock exhuast system. I believe it will, and make it easier to drain. If not there isn't any damage done, I'll just tuck my tail and hide....lol
