I know this may be a no brainer for some but can a 68-74 side pipes fit on a 76. If not, why? And when purchasing side pipes what should I look for. I am going the used rout so I don't want to miss anything.
As MUP said they will fit your car.
You need to look for the pipes themselves, the chrome plated covers with fiberglass insulators and the mounting hardware. You mention getting used parts. I rarely see used covers that are in good enough condition to put on a car.
A bit of the fiberglass rocker panel needs to be trimmed for the pipe.
I think they look and sound great.

Alan
Ditto to above responses. My 76 did not require any mods to the rockers. Some do. I have never seen used pipes that were in even close to good shape around here. You'll also need some custom bracketry for the A/C and possibly different spark pugs if you go with Hookers. Good luck.
They are Used sbc (68-74) Corvette Side pipes & Headers. How much clearance do you have with the side pipes? I am still in high school and I don't know if I will make it over the speed bump to the student parking lot.
Since you say there are headers involved that means they aren't the 69style side exhaust I was referring to.
Someone with Hooker experience will pipe up with help on what you're getting ready to do.

Alan
They will bolt right up, but legally you can't do it. No cat(s). Federal law. Big fines possible for disabling emissions equipment. Depends on where you live if that is an issue or not, but more and more it is-or will be.
Those look like Hookers. They actually drag less that the long tube headers that I used to have. I've lowered my suspension to 27" from fender lip to ground and I do have to be careful over higher height speed bumps and driveway-to-road transitions. So depending how your suspension is set up, you may need to be aware of certain obstacles. A lot of us have them and love them, so dragging is really not a big issue.

They should bolt right on. Like one poster stated. They list them through 74 because that was the last year for true dual exaust. Bolt 'em on and roll the windows down !! Enjoy the sound !
