Default Radio Wiring

Has anyone ever posted wiring for the U69 option, standard AM/FM radio installation for a 69?

Try Wilcox.com, they have quite a few tech diagrams, etc.

The AIM shows it. Not much there other than speakers and the convector (output transistor). Main dash harness has a three wire connector for power, illumination, and ground.

Hi AR,
If your going to be working on an old Corvette there are lots of books it would be good to have. Tied for first place on the list are the AIM, and the GM CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL.
The AIM, ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION MANUAL, is a book of about 400 pages that was used on the production line. There's one for each year.
The CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL was used at the dealerships, and is 500+ pages. There's one for each year.
Many of the larger vendors sell them.
They will answer questions you haven't even thought of yet.
Regards,
Alan

Buy both the A.I.M. and the Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual. They are not duplicates of each other. They are a must for every Corvette owner.

Yep. 68-76 Corvette radios are two part affairs: receiver and final output transistor (GM calls them convector assemblies). One transistor for mono units; two for stereo. Mono shown. You will need one if your original is not still up under the dash.

When you order your AIM, get a reproduction owner's manual. If you have an original owner's manual with the car, take it out and store it in the house. Keep the reprint in the car.

Those 2 are vital ones I agree, but my next best friend is the wiring diagram for the entire car you can get.. it is in the AIM but spread out over several pages and hard to read.. get one from Lectric Limited, laminated and poster size of the entire harness. Doc Rebuild has a great one, in color... it will be the best 20$ you ever spent..theres a free one from a nice gentleman here on the forum, do a search..
I just about have it memorized as I have endevoured to 'Un-Bubba' my harness....

Thanks, Roger.

Yep. It's mounted to the firewall bulkhead framework just behind the dash panel.

Later, Rog.

If all else fails as did with my stock radio I got a unit from custom auto sound that looks close to stock ,I think it looks quite well in the car.
