I just got my vette up here and Im having trouble finding a collector car insurance for up here in alaska every site I go to it skips right over AK when it says pick a state I was just wondering what everyone else uses and recomends I dont really know much about collector car insurance and how it works.
I used Haggerty - One of the biggest. I pay $340 yr with no mileage restrictions. Their only requirement is that you must have another car. The vette can't be your daily driver. They also require it to be garaged, but they never asked me for pics of my garage. I did have to send a photo of the car and had to declare a value. The $340 is for 20k declared value and it comes with roadside assistance. Just as a comparison I was paying $1200 for the same car with Allstate before I switched to Haggerty. (I think the deductible is very low but don't recall exactly). Good luck
No. You just have to own another vehicle which you claim as your "everyday" driver [so that your C3 isn't...]. You also have to store it 'inside', rather than on the street.

sweet. my DD is an 03 civic and i keep that thing outside. corvette gets the garage
I checked all the rest and Haggerty was the best and the one most often recommended by others.
I put my Benz and my Corvette with them and pay less now for both cars combined than I did for the Benz alone with my other insurance company.
Definitely get "Agreed Value" that way there is no argueing or game playing if there is a loss.
Great people to deal with also.

There is an interesting discussion on this topic right now on the NCRS Technical Discussion Board at www.ncrs.org
One of the guys just got his bill from Grundy and it doubled over last year and he is not happy.
It is good reading and many others have posted that they left company A or B and went to Haggerty because no costly appraisals required, no rules for this or that,,, go check it out.

I've been happy with J. C. Taylor. But, since I've not had a claim, I haven't seen that side of them.
I believe the most important thing is to have 'agreed value' coverage. I think most companoies offering collector car coverage now insure that way, but check to make sure.
$28,500 coverage for $237 per year.

i saw on the haggerty site that i have to choose whether or not the car has been modified at all. that changed the yearly price a bit.
i have been looking at grundys primarily because of the mileage thing, no appraisal and for my 72 LS5 convertible with an agreed value of 30 and my 68 mustang with an agreed value of 10 the annual price was going to be 340 a year as of last week.
i'll have to check haggery out. im paying 47 a month for LIABILITY while my car isnt finished yet... im going to have to check out some others...
for haggery you said you need to have another car? does it need to be insured w/haggery?
No, you just have to show proof that the Vette is not your daily driver. It does not have to be insured by Hagerty. In fact they only insure classics. I tried to get them to insure my 2004 Vette also and almost had them convinced but in the end they denied me.
A lot of you guys are having trouble reading and understanding the original question.......Does grundy or Haggerty have Collector Car Insurance in Alaska?????? This was not a debate on who is better.

Holy cow man, it's not like the comments were about apple picking in Germany or something. You've got a mighty tight grip on what you consider to be on-topic or off topic. Not much sense in asking the crowd here if Hagerty or Grundy offer collector car insurance in Alaska when it is just as easy to contact the companies and hear it from the horse's mouth. Folks were just giving him some suggestions of who to call.
