My assembly manual in one section shows a w/washer fluid jar under the r/s fender and in another section shows a w/washer fluid bag under the l/s fender. Should both be there? I only have a bag on hangers on l/s, I dont see how you can fill it. also did the headlight washers come on all 71's? Theres no sign of it on mine except small holes in the light covers that I guess a nozel once could have been.

It depends what engine is in the car. My small block 70 has a jar in the right side fender. Now if I had a big block there is no room, so you would have a bag on the left. As for the headlight washers, I think that was a 70 only thing.
The washer "bag" was installed in the A/C equipped cars; the non-A/C cars got the bottle/tank. You can just get your fingers on the cap [of the bag] to twist it off. But you need a long spout on the filler to get the 'juice' into it.
OK great I'm not missing another part I have to locate. Mine is BB and A/C so guess it got the cheesey bag on a hook. The manual is a lot of help sometimes but aggravating sometimes also trying to figure it out. It shows the headlight washer system but I dont see anything indicating it was a option that I may or may not have.

The earliest 1971s had the headlight washer as a carry-over from 1970. They stopped putting them on at some point, but some cars may have a few bits that were put on as they were using up stock. I think the 5-port washer is a good indication.
My '71 was built in Dec. of '70. It did not receive the [bulk of] the headlight washer system. I'm not sure that any '71s got the entire system. Mine only has the washer hose runs from about the brake M/C area to forward end of the front clip (along the inside of the fender). It also has headlight bezels which DO have the "D" holes for mounting the nozzles. I suspect the removal of this headlight washer system was a "last minute" cost-cutting decision and the hose bundles were already packaged complete; the connection ends of those hoses probably got cut off on, or just before, the final assembly line. The other parts were probably available also, but they just didn't get assembled. The cost-savings was made up by not 'spending' the assembly time for those "missing" parts.

The repops are wrong, they don't have the 3" neck on the bag - making nearly impossible to get fluid in it. Plus they are the wrong color and configuration.

You need to read the lower right hand corner information to ensure you are looking at the correct UPC information for your engine, in the case of a 71 either LS-5 or LS-6.
The A.I.M. is not the right place to identify options. Look in a Corvette Black Book or one of the many restoration guides or the NCRS Tech manual and guides.

The neck on the bag collapses so you need a funnel with a long rigid neck you can push down through the narrow part of the bag to get the fluid into it.
It's also lots of fun trying to get that limp washer hose back into the bag when you're done filling it.

Mine is from september and has the exact same configuration with the hose going nowhere and the washer pump with the hose going from one headlight output to the other

My original early 68 Nov build 69 bag does not have a 3 inch neck. Yesterday I was trying to figure out how to remove and found impossible unless maybe needle nose pliers are used. Lid was a problem also to get off.
My 69 has the headlamp washers, washer pump has additional electrical solenoid pump for the arms, the main pump goes to headlamp system.

12 years later. Getting close to the record today.
