Ok Here is my latest adventure;.
I have never been happy with the look of the stock inserts. With some leftover leather, hard board, a couple of stingray emblems and fun foam, I made this what do you guys think. No original parts were harmed in the making of this modification.
Hi T,
They look very good, and do seem to go well with your seats.
How are they attached to the door panels?
Regards,
Alan
Hi Allen,
I used paper binders like a manila envelope has. When I was at office depot and saw some that were 1.5” long and thought they would work well. I used them inplace of the originals. Oh yeah I did cut the first layer of foam out to compensate for the thickness of the button head on the clips.

I’m sorry I didn’t……They were pretty straight forward. I used the originals for the pattern and used flat sheets of foam that I glued to the hardboard. Then where I wanted a recess I just cut the foam out. When you glue the leather down just make sure to start wherever you have a recess and work out from there with the glue. I will say it took me longer than I expected to do this. I thought it would take a couple of hours tops. NOT… it was a full day of scratching my head AND a couple of hours of work.
thats a nice color.. is it a gun metal grey or black?.... would be nice to redo my interior in that color
It’s black, the interior was gunmetal gray, but I had too much trouble matching the color. The panel looks grayer in the picture because the door panel behind it had armorall on it. I had thought about making the insert a gray, but I was afraid it would pull your eye to it and look out of place.
