Default Are C3 rocker interchangable?

I see 1977 rocker panels are all chrome. The 78-78 are painted black. I want to put the 77s on my 79. Will they fit?

I believe that they are about an inch shorter than the later years. When C3's got wider tires, the wheel well was opened up a bit and the rocker panels were shortened.

Actually, the rocker panels are made the same, I believe. Why don't you just strip the black paint off of yours? P.S. DO NOT use sandpaper or other abrasives as this will ruin the anodized finish on the aluminum. Just buy some paint stripper and remove the paint chemically.

yes
It's the 80-82 rocker panels that are an inch shorter than the earlier year c3s.

78's & 79's are different from '80-'82s....and they are different from '70-'77s. Your best option is still just removing the black paint from your own panels.

70-77 rocker panels have the satin finish(as does the 78 Pace Car) which is what he's looking for. 78-79 has the black finish, only difference.
80-82 are shorter, not sure if there's a difference in the finish.

The 70-79 rockers are all the same length. You can use 70-77 or 78 Pace Car rockers (which have the same anodized aluminum finish with the black painted indent as the 70-77's) on your 79 with no problem. Standard 78's and 79's are the same rocker as the earlier ones, but with all but the top edge painted black. The 80-82's are a different length, though the 80's are finished the same as 78-79's (painted black with the top edge left natural) while the 81-82's are painted black completely.
