I guess you could call it a 350 (but it's really a 346) and I guess you could call it a small block (Gen III).
I chose it becuase I wanted to build something different, EFI, Supercharged, turn key go thumpity thump. There are many options to do the same thing. I work on a lot of LS motors so it was a logical choice for me.
no option to vote twice, lol. i have a stock ls1 in my 04 CE convert and a 383 stroker (mild) in my 78 pace car. the reasons: none to change the 04 and i would think that an engine rated at 185 in a heavy 78 body need no explanation, lol!! happy as hell with both.
327 only because it came this way.. I will be building something else soon and dropping it in over the winter next year.. By the way, I did not paint that brake reservoir, it was like that when I bought the car (it will be black soon)

because the 350/370 horse LT-1 motor is pretty amazing for a 39 year old engine. Love the lifters--you know the ones where todays genius's with their hats on backwards say " hey mister whats wrong with your motor?--sounds likes it's knockin"

Confessions of a 427 addict...
BB'd my '78 SA many years ago with it's first in a succession of various 427 buildups, and have yet another one in the works; this one a solid roller with alum heads.
Have also owned a '69 L71 427/435 tri-power, as well as an incorrect ZR1 with a 427 transplanted in (it was that way when I bought it).

Impressive as hell, and I might add you win the show and shine too....
Interesting that your L-46 has the expansion tank, metal shroud & aluminum radiator. There's been some debate about L-46's with this set up. My original motor is gone so I'm not 100% sure if I had an L-46 originally or base 300 hp engine. My data plate has L-46 specs and looks 39 years old, but who knows for sure until I pull the tank one day.
BTW-beautiful engine bay!

original 350 rated at 255hp in 1972.It was smoking when I restored the car, so I had to bore the block .030 over, I beleive that makes it a 355 or something close to that.
