Hi ETA
I believe 68-74 windshields are different than 75-82. But I don't know what the difference is. Sorry!
Regards,
Alan

68-72 windshields are curved differently at the bottom because of the wiper door. That why when people remove their wiper doors and put on "long" hoods they are so surprised when they see how ugly it is at the bottom.

PS- 69 windshield for sale.

the shape is the same but the 78 glass has abigger black border on the bottom to cover up the taller dash pad 68 thru 72 are different due to the wiper door

Nope same curve but 68 thru 72 have a raised area on the outer lower caps that would prevent a later glass to sit flush . the shape and curve is the same

I can attest to that black painted part. When I got my windshield changed many years ago they put the wrong model year glass in. When I brought the car home, after further inspection, I could see the base of the dash showing under the dash stuff. Took car back to Autoglass the next day - long story short, they could put the correct windshield in. I don't know what year vette glass they first put it but it seemed to fit great except for the black paint bar at the base being soooo wrooong!

Ok here is the breakdown by years first the only thing different on the cowls shape is raised areas on the corner caps used to locate the 68/ 72 s weird cut if you remove them you can use a later glass. Now 68/72 is one style 73/ 76 another style 77 is an oddball as it has a mirror mount and more shading. then 78/ 82 has a big broad band at the bottom to cover the higher dash.

While we're talking windshields or windscreens as they're call here in the UK (i get pulled up in the UK for 'talkin' American lingo on car parts ) .

I have a late 77, i have had to replace the windshield and front end birdcage, when i removed the old sections, there was no clips along the top rail, i thought this was down to bubba not rplacing them and maybe using the bonding to fix the trim in place, but now i have fitted the new frame (also from a 77 shipped in to the UK from CA) i notice there is no holes for teh single screw in each clip, there seems to be indents from where the frame was spot welded.

The question is, did all years 68-82 have (or focus on 77 as i have that year) have the clips fitted? if so where have the holes for the screws gone? the clips are for holding the trim......right?

TIA

seems around 77 either GM was cheaping out on screws or the workers were too lazy to install them . The retaining clips were hooked under the targa mld with no screws installed , there should be 11 total. there should be indents in frame to indicate where the clips attach just drill and install clips
