Another Engine Bay Detailing Question

Default Another Engine Bay Detailing Question

What is the correct finish on the hose brackets that are mounted near (just below) the radiator surge tank? There are 2 of these that hold the heater supply and return hoses.

Are you talking about the ones riveted to the wheel well? If so I thing satin black.

Yes ... there is a rectangular shaped piece riveted to the wheel well. That piece has a square hole in it and the 'strap' that wraps around the 2 hoses snaps into the hole.

Mine look sorta like having a plain metal finish, but are so discolored that I can't really determine what the originally looked like.

Hi 70Y,
I believe that on 70-72 cars the two clamps that hold the heater hoses together are black phosphate. It's a finish that's really more like very dark gray and a little sparkly. It's a plating not a paint. It's similar to the finish that's on the 4 parts of the hood latches.
