I have an 80 L48, automatic. car has 60,xxx miles on it no idea on if it ever rolled over or not. Need's interior work, body needs slight repair to fix two cracks in the front end body shop quoted me at $1500 to fix and repaint the whole car. Also needs driver side floorboard replaced, and the interior could use some new seat covers and carpet. Mechanically the car is in great shape, runs great, just needs a leaking power steering hose replaced. If i were to sell, what could i get?
No it is my dad's friend who is doing the work, he has fixed several corvettes and is giving me a pretty good deal on the work. I knew it would be under 10k, just wondering how much under.
Your description of the car indicates some fairly extensive cosmetic needs. Since that is the first thing people see, if the mechanicals and driving feel are very good, spending money on the cosmetics could be well warranted. If there is documentation that would support the true mileage that would help, but maintenance and appearance out weigh mileage.
Since 10-12K can buy a pretty nice C3 adjust downward for the cost of bringing it up to a higher standard. And BTW there are good people such as your fathers friend, who will treat well because they are not doing it for the money, as you state they are doing it out of friendship.

I do agree with almost all of this, however think starting at $10 - 12K and working down is too high of a starting point. My 81 cost me $8,500 2 years ago this month when these cars were bringing more than they do today. It had 74K miles, new paint and in great shape mechanically, only needed seat covers and even that was debatable.
I think you're looking at a $4 K car. Here's my 81 for comparison;
Jon I would have to say that I think your car was well bought. It is a very sharp car with a good color combo. As much as this is a tough market, I get serious offers for mine that are above 10-12K range that I would generally put a nice C3 in.
I'm the original owner of my car and I have watched the prices on these cars more out of curiousness than anything, but I have actually seen a tendency for the prices to be rising if it is a nice car. On the other hand there is a lot of junk out there which tends to give the impression that C3s aren't worth very much. It definately brings down the average selling price of the cars.

That's good to hear, thanks! I have been offered $10K as well, seems like I get an offer everytime I take it out.
