Go to ebay. I've seen NOS in the box going for 500.00
I haven't had anything re-chromed , but that does seem high to me.
Even GM resto parts is 400.00.

I've been warned to stay away from re-pops to avoid fit-up issues.

I used Paul's Chrome in W.Pa. About 30 min from me. Both rear bumpers were done "Show Quality", which is all he does, for about $500. He does shipping too.
don't forget, you have shiping back and forth, and the shop will have them for a month or more so your car will be down..
you could buy them NOS already done and sell your old ones for close to the same total expendature and get it done right away and not have to wait..
I'll add again, with replacements you don't know how they'll fit since you don't know how the jig for positioning the brackets was set up before the welding was done.

Alan
What is the going rate for bumper chroming? I got a quote yesterday of $750 including shipping (in Canada). Reasonable?
eastltd,
I paid $1567.50 CDN for my 2 rear bumpers, front bumper and 2 bumperettes for my '69. This was in '07.
The work was done by Cambridge Custom Chrome and the quality is top notch. The one front bumperette was in rough shape with rust almost through at the mounting tab. When it came back it looked like brand new!
Very good work, great to deal with and very fast. It took them about a week and a half.
