Just need to know, on the driver side of the 70 SB, I assume the unit near the front is the "temp sending unit", is this correct? And what is the unit on the passenger side (near the rear) for? Thanks for your input.

The one on the passenger side is a temperature sensor for the transmission controlled spark system. Provides information about whether the engine temp is below 82 degrees or above 230 degrees.

The one in the RH head is a 3-way switch for the TCS solenoid (closed with a cold engine to provide manifold vacuum to the distributor, open in the normal operating temp range so the transmission controls the distributor vacuum, and closed if the engine is overheating to again provide manifold vacuum to the distributor). Completely different sending units.
Thanks Dennis, another question the TCS unit, is that the unit that sits on the manifold with three hoses leading off? I have this removed, what effect does not having this unit have on engine performance? Cheers,

Assuming your now have a direct vacuum connection from the front passenger side port of the carb to the distributor vacuum advance can.......improved preformance, smoother idle, all things being equal
