Wow, this typically open minded forum is disappointing me. ITS YOUR CAR, DO WHAT YOU WANT! However, those scoops are meant to face the rear and IMO look funny facing any other way. Go with the conventional T/A method. I seem to remember a similar thread so it might do you well to do a search too. I think I was even in that last thread, I said something to the effect that I think the shape of the shaker is a lot like the shape of a 'vette hood so I think it lends itself well to it.

Never mind. I read it. He's serious.

And of course there's a couple people who are encouraging him.

Why does this stuff always show up on the C3 side?

If you're after more air, cut a hole in the hood and put a Hilborn scoop on the engine or a fiberglass pro stock scoop on the hood.

For that matter, put a 1973-75 cowl induction hood on it.

Just don't bastardize it with a Pontiac factory part.

As you said its HIS car do as he wants! I have seen some ugly looking hoods on C3's but I dont see anyone give him a hard time. I think out of 10 replies 1 or 2 liked the idea. What is the difference if my dad went out and bought a cowl from summit or installed the T/A scoop? Why not be different...

Default It IS your car...............

and you seem to appreciate American Iron. (other car pics)
If we can't convince you to hawk the scoop and the stock hood for an L88 hood, I vote pic #1

Much oblige sir. That's all I was interested in when I started this thread and wasn't expecting to be bashed. I might not even do it, I just wanted honest opinions. Thank you.

Default Here's another ?

Even if you graft in the TA scoop, will it give you the clearance you're looking for.
It would be shame to put the time/effort into making this work just to find out you didn't really gain anything. (ie air cleaner wont fit inside scoop)

You could also consider a "hi rise twin turbo hood" or a "hi rise original" version with 2" more cowel.
just sayin'.....................

If you're going after a scoop, the Hilborn is hard to beat for the vettes styling.

Go for it! I think it can look good if done right. I would install it the opening facing back like it was on the T/A's.

I saw one installed on a chrome bumper Vette at a local cruise night:
