Default T/A scoop

So I have been thinking/planing on installing this T/A scoop on my vette to get better air flow to the motor. The only thing is I can not decide what way I want it to face? Can you please help me out with this.

Don't do it, it looks odd . Get a L88 hood instead.

If this is a California 305 Vette, Air flow increase will not do much..

it's just a spare hood that I have. I have a vortec motor with a high rise intake with a drop base air cleaner that barely made it to close the hood.

Something to have while saving for an L88 hood.

Plan was to cut the spare hood we have and glass the T/A scoop to it.

It doesn't work for me. It looks like you want a T/A so I would think buy a T/A.

Its like taking a C5 and making the body look like a C1, Go buy a C1, it's wrong in my book.

My 2 cents

Some things just don't work. I put a Thunderbolt hoodscoop on a standard hood and it's leaning up against the fence.
As soon as I saw it painted I knew it wasn't going on the car.
"looked Odd" for sure.

There was a thread on this a while back and most responses were positive. Wonder where those people are now?
I think it would look GREAT! The opening should face the rear, just like the T/A.
I'm not likely to do it since I have an L88 hood, but I have a spare small block hood and if I stumbled over a T/A scoop cheap, I would like to try it. I think it would be a great look.

Sell it and put the money towards a L88 Hood scoop, they aren't expensive.

I appreciate all your input. I personally wouldn't want to alter the original configuration of the car, it's just that the intake sits too high and I hardly get any air circulation.

As mentioned, this is a temporary fix till I get an L88 hood.

I like it with the opening facing forward. My 71 GTO had the forward facing ram air scoops that made it look so cool. Think Cuda with the shaker hood. The scoops make 'em look mean. It's not oversized and monstrous like some of the vette mods we've seen pics of and once you have it in and painted I bet it will look much better than everyone else thinks.

The T/A scoop was made to stay attached to the air cleaner and seal under the hood. It was not designed to be a "Ram Air" scoop.

It was designed to pull air in from the base of the windshield where there is high pressure. It will not work very well as a Pro Stock scoop.

If you're after more air, cut a hole in the hood and put a Hilborn scoop on the engine or a fiberglass pro stock scoop on the hood.

For that matter, put a 1973-75 cowl induction hood on it.

Just don't bastardize it with a Pontiac factory part.
