Differentials are the 3rd strike, interior fit is a foul ball.

Also I am doing a complete frame off restoration. Upgrading all suspension, Wheels and tires, drive line and chassis issues. Goal is to have 300hp to the wheels, 20+ mpg, black and beautiful, trunk rack, leg pipes. Anything beyond that is a bonus.

I love both cars, but for different reasons.

Why don't you just let your son know about the car? Why are you considering buying it for him? I can't imagine any Dad just "dropping" a vintage car on an adult son without ever discussing it with him.

If you are dead set into buying a C3 as a daily driver...purchase original and save a lot of headaches.

I've spent about $10k in repairs since I bought it about 8 months ago for $9k. But then again, I abuse my beast, and take it to the drag strip frequently...

Didn't say I was buying it for him. He is 29 years old and is thinking of buying one. I have a C5 and have owned many others and he has now decided that he would like to get one so he has been looking at a 82 but after he has read this form he is now thinking of getting a 2002 C5 since it will be his daily driver.

Your first major problem would not having anyone pay attention to your questions added to someone elses post out of the blue.

The offical term would be called "hijacking" the thread. You really don't want to start out that way.

Start a thread of your own...introduce yourself...then ask away. You will find most everyone here very helpful, and very knowledgeable.

Tell him to get a nice low mile 94-96 C4. My son (21) just bought an immaculate 95 6 speed with 39,000 miles on it for $13k
Yours must have been a lemon - interesting you kept the "81C3" profile name.
