I've searched the forum for an answer to the following but have come up somewhat empty:
1. Do I have to remove the gas tank to get to the drain of the astro vents? Looking from underneath, it appears that the stainless covers are between the bulkhead and the tank.
2. My vette is a 69 convert and the drain tubes appear to be elbowed. Looking at parts in ecklers and doc rebuild, all I see are staright tubes. Are the elbowed for the vert?
2. I need to repair the astro vent covers. How hard is this to do?
They are elbowed for a vert. I just saw them available in someones catalog or webpage recently. Most vendors do not carry them as I looked for a long time and couldn't find them.
In the 70 AIM page UPC 1 ASM sheet F22T here's 2 tubes. One below the top lid angled downward into the plenum area, and the elbow from the plenum to the shield.
When you say 'rebuild the covers', do you mean the 'flapper doors?
If so, Dr. Rebuild has the foam rubber parts and it's pretty easy to do.
Regards,
Alan
Yes Mr. Alan. That's what I plan to do. It appears that the gaskets are gone. I can't tell if the flaps work or not because the vacum hose is not connected. I shall begin this repair shortly and noticed the kits from Docs Rebuild. Just seems like a very confined area to get to these flaps. I guess the passenger seat will have to come out again so I can get to it on my back.

Any idea who? Until now this is the first time I have heard of them being available for a vert.

When I took my dampers out, I noticed that the 'gasket material' looked just about the same as the 2mm foam sold in the craft stores. So I cut mine out of black foam using a steel straight edge and an X-acto knife. I bought a 24" X 12" piece of foam so I could make them in one piece.
